How to add customer support to a Telegram group or channel

A step-by-step guide to turning a Telegram bot into a real customer support desk — create the bot, connect it, and start answering tickets in minutes.

Telegram is where a huge number of communities, shops and crypto projects actually talk to their customers. But out of the box, "support" usually means one person answering DMs from their phone. Here's how to turn a Telegram bot into a proper support desk — with tickets, history and a team — in a few minutes.

1. Create a bot with @BotFather

Open @BotFather in Telegram and send /newbot. Give it a display name (e.g. Acme Support) and a username ending in bot. BotFather sends you a token that looks like 123456789:AAF... — copy it.

2. Turn off Group Privacy (important)

By default, bots can only read /commands in groups, not regular messages. If you want your bot to see messages, open @BotFather → /mybots → your bot → Bot Settings → Group Privacy → Turn off.

3. Connect the bot to a support tool

You could write and host code yourself, but a hosted helpdesk saves the server, the uptime and the maintenance. With EzSuppBot, you paste the token from step 1 and it runs the bot for you — every customer message becomes a ticket you manage from a web panel or right inside Telegram.

4. (Optional) Connect a staff group

If your team prefers working in Telegram, add the bot to a staff group and make it an admin. New tickets post into the group, and staff reply straight from there — or use the web panel. You can even give each ticket its own topic so nothing gets tangled.

5. Set up the basics

A few settings make a big difference:

  • A greeting so customers know they've reached support.
  • Quick replies for the answers you send all day.
  • Opening hours so after-hours messages get an automatic note.
  • A knowledge base if you want AI to answer common questions for you.

Do you need AI?

For low volume, a human answering tickets is fine. Once you're repeating yourself, AI replies (with smart escalation to a human for refunds, complaints and anything urgent) save hours — and translation lets you help customers in languages your team doesn't speak.

That's the whole setup: create a bot, connect it, and you've got a real support desk on the channel your customers already use. Start free →
